No bullshit. I’m not a staunch ESG advocate nor a vegan living by candlelight eating homegrown carrots. I’m just a regular person, and I believe that we, as regular people, can do a lot through small actions.
Nowadays, sustainability reporting and the adoption of policies for sustainability, inclusion, and transparency are trending topics and, for many large companies, legal requirements. My personal commitment to these principles is not driven by obligation but by the educational values instilled by two parents who deeply respected nature and people.
While writing this page, I realized how many small actions we can take in this direction without any imposition. My attention to the environment, society, and good governance reflects in my personal and professional choices, driven by the belief that every action can make a difference for a better living, now and future.
Here are some of the initiatives and activities that embody my contribution to the ESG world.
Education and environmental awareness
- In 1997, I attended the first “Ecomanagement” training at the University of Pavia, gaining knowledge and awareness of responsible natural resource management.
- I obtained amateur and professional PADI certifications, embracing PADI AWARE’s mission: “Drive local action for global ocean conservation” through citizen science, public policy, and community grants.
- In recent years, I completed mandatory courses on 231 compliance and CSR Fundamentals Training.
Marine and nature conservation
- Since 1997, I have co-organized and participated in several ecological days dedicated to cleaning and protecting nature, collaborating with local communities to preserve the environment.
- Since 2006, I have organized and participated in numerous underwater clean-up activities, contributing to the conservation of a fragile and vital ecosystem.
- I am an active supporter of Sea Shepherd, from whom I received official thanks for media support activities.
Promoting responsability
- As the founder of ScubaPortal, a leading media platform for the underwater world, I have always prioritized the protection of the marine environment.
- I am also the founder and author of ScubaZone, a digital magazine that adopted a sustainable philosophy by initially using and then eliminating print-on-demand services as soon as technically possible, focusing solely on a fully digital model.
- I have written three books on diving, published by Hoepli, Magenes, and Reef Writer Corporation.
- I organized 20 editions of the MyShot photography contest, aimed at showcasing and protecting the beauty of the underwater world.
Commitment to sustainable energy
- For over 10 years, I have used energy produced by a photovoltaic system, reducing my ecological footprint and promoting a sustainable energy consumption model.
- I have always embraced digital archiving and strive to minimize printing.
- Whenever possible, I use bicycles and electric scooters for transportation.
Ethical and sustainable marketing
- In my work, I develop ethical marketing strategies focused on transparency and free from “hype,” aiming to create real value for businesses and society.
- I published a book on marketing, explaining the need to define corporate identity by transparently and clearly communicating values and value propositions.
- I critique non-transparent initiatives such as “vanity awards.”
- I carefully select suppliers and collaborators.
- I supported the development of Greenners, a community dedicated to sharing sustainable best practices.
Animal welfare contribution
- In 2008 I co-founded Avvocato Animali, a legal service specialized in protecting animal rights.
- In 2007, I adopted a dolphin, Ziggie, symbolically contributing to its protection.
- I spend several time in sharing culture of animal respect, in particular in the ocean.
Contribution to people’s well-being and well-aging
Since 2018 I joined the Cerba HealthCare Italia management team as Chief Marketing Officer and we are dedicated to finding real solutions for health prevention, every day.
We developed the Longevity program, aimed at enhancing individuals’ healthy lives through life-span medicine.
Through thoughtful marketing and communication strategies, we strive to enhance patient experiences and offer them what they truly need.
Recognitions
- In 2004 I received an award from CONI for my contribution to the development of the diving community, a recognition that motivates me to continue my work with passion.
- In 2019 I got a certificate of gratitude from Sea Shepherd for my activities.
- For several years, I received the Top Awards from Assosub for ‘prestige, organizational skills, quality standards, and contributions to promoting photography and diving activities.‘
These experiences represent my small contribution to a more sustainable future, where every choice is oriented towards environmental respect, responsible community growth, ethical marketing, and governance. I hope some of these initiatives will inspire others to do the same—most importantly, my son.
